Design philosophy

Good design is not decoration.

I don't start with what the screen should look like. I start with six questions, and I keep asking them until the answers stop changing.

  1. What problem are we actually solving?
  2. Who are we solving it for?
  3. What makes the experience difficult?
  4. What can we simplify?
  5. What decision will make the biggest difference?
  6. How do we know it works?

How I think

Not a process diagram. The order in which I reduce uncertainty.

  1. 01UnderstandWhat is actually happening?Users, business goals, workflows and constraints — before any solution language enters the room.Complexity
  2. 02DefineWhat is the real problem?Separate symptoms from the underlying problem. Most briefs describe a symptom.Understanding
  3. 03ExploreWhat could work better?Hold several possibilities open instead of committing to the first idea that looks finished.Problem
  4. 04SimplifyWhat can we remove, clarify or improve?Reduce unnecessary complexity — in the flow, the information and the decisions asked of people.Ideas
  5. 05DesignHow should the experience work?Flows, information, interactions, states, edge cases and interface.Simplification
  6. 06ValidateDoes it actually work?Research, feedback, testing or whatever evidence is genuinely available.Validation
  7. 07ScaleCan this solution grow?Consistency, accessibility, reuse and the version of the product nobody has asked for yet.Scalable product

Featured work

Three case studies, told as decisions rather than screens.

02Mobility / EV / Rural transportation

REXI — Rural EV Mobility Platform

How might rural riders get affordable last-mile transport, while local investors get a transparent way to own and earn from the fleet?

Physical + digital + service design — EV bikes, rider app, investor app, admin platform
Duration
30 days

    Where I'm going

Senior UX / Product Designer, growing in four directions.

    • Product strategyOwning the problem earlier — where the product bet is made, not only where it is drawn.
    • Design leadership & mentoringHelping designers reason about trade-offs and explain their decisions clearly.
    • UX strategy in regulated domainsHealthcare and fintech products, where clarity and trust carry real consequences.
    • EntrepreneurshipAn EV mobility business for rural transport — the thinking behind the REXI concept.

    Let's talk

    Let's design something meaningful.

If you're working on a complex product, workflow or emerging technology challenge, I'd be interested in hearing about it.
